Mine stuck going out also and I thought I had a similar problem, when I got to looking around I found the slide topper was binding up keeping the slide from moving, I have to get it going by hand to get the slide to go out by opening the drivers door and grabbing the topper mechanism and have the wife push the slide button as it starts to move I kinda manually unroll the topper till it catches and goes out normally. One more thing I need to get fixed this year.

Like said above keep an eye on the braking sytem uses, we had a coulple that had the leather drums, did not last very long. i would look for one with the disk brakes they may last and work better. the leather drum ones were no fun going down hill.
RE: day night shades
Mini blinds are a good option for a travel trailer but in a motorhome the noise they will make while driving will drive you crazy.
